We have left the big city of Buenos Aires, heading north towards Brazil. On the way, we stop by beautiful thermal pools where we are conspicuous as the only non-Latin Americans. But we have such an enjoyable and relaxing time that we extend our camping spot another night, just so we can visit the thermal pools again. From there, we go off-road to a remote national park in Argentina, Parque Nacional Iberá.

Parque Nacional Iberá is co-located with a provincial park (Argentina’s version of a state park) by the same name, Parque Provincial Iberá. The whole ecosystem is pantanal, or wetland.
The most famous pantanal is in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but we know we won’t make it that far north. Iberá is a wonderful substitute. In our episode, you’ll see the two-hour boat tour we take and how much wildlife we see along the way.
Starlink
When we came back from the U.S. in July, we brought a Gen 3 Starlink dish with us. We share the setup at camp, and how our Jeep’s electrical system supports the power draw. This was a big question mark for us when we were researching Starlink and making a decision about the investment, and now we know.
What’s new with Hourless Life?
Since our last update, we spent a week in the town of Gramado. This place looks nothing like my idea of Brazil! It looks like a Swiss village, a bit like Breckenridge, Colorado, or Leavenworth, Washington. They had just decorated for Christmas, so the atmosphere was upbeat and festive.
We used our RCI points to stay at a resort hotel called Buona Vitta (we accrue RCI points when we don’t use our timeshare week in Orlando). This was our best timeshare experience ever and we didn’t want to leave! Caspian said he would like to live at the hotel. 😂
From Gramado, we headed two hours to Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul. We are almost finished in Brazil (boo), but we need to do something important before we go. Brazil has a sizable network of Jeep dealerships and–more importantly–we have seen Gladiators on the road! So we want to take advantage of this access to trained technicians and get Dauntless into the shop for some maintenance, inspection, and recalibration. We’ll share more about the results in a future update.
Tomorrow, we leave Porto Alegre and drive west, back to Argentina. We will take three driving days to reach the border, which is about 400 miles away.
