We’re back with another overlanding video, sharing our family’s drive around the world! We cover a lot of ground in this episode, driving from where Argentina borders Uruguay in the east, all the way to Mendoza near the western border with Chile! In addition to the normal fun associated with international overlanding, like police checkpoints, we show you what it’s like to visit two of Argentina’s major cities: Cordoba and Mendoza.
Watch now:
Cordoba is a university town and we loved the vibe there. The people we met were very welcoming and quite a few spoke some English. Our Airbnb, located half-way between Plaza San Martin and Plaza España, was walkable to everything. I could walk downstairs to get beautiful produce, a matcha latte, a rotisserie chicken, or simple groceries like milk right on our same block! I’d walk to the next block for a fresh baguette every day. It was the most wonderful feeling.
After Cordoba, we continued west–back to the city of Mendoza. This was our third time in Mendoza! The last time we were there was during the summer when I had my surgery. The reason we returned was so Caspian could spend his 8th birthday with a friend, Zoe from @meataround_theworld. Caspian also got to see his friends from Essenza, a cafe he loves where the entire staff fell in love with him.
Following our Airbnb stay in central Mendoza, once again by lovely Parque San Martín, we drove outside the city to where Zoe’s parents recently bought property to settle down. After their years overlanding Latin America, this is where they’ve decided to put down roots! We show you their property with plum and olive trees, and describe their vision for building a campground for overlanders.
Then on to Valle de Uco, the famous Malbec wine region south of Mendoza that draws so many visitors. We found an unbelievable boutique hotel and enjoyed a four-hour, multi-course meal at Bodega La Azul.
And that was really the close of a chapter. Leaving the wine valley, we turned south again and got ready to cross back into Chile. So many adventures lie ahead!
Thanks for being part of our journey.
