Why, hello there! It’s been a minute since we posted on YouTube, but we are excited to share a new video with you today! In our last episode, we gazed on the stunning, turquoise Perito Moreno Glacier and camped in the shadow of Mt. Fitz Roy in Argentina. But now the real work begins. It’s 3,000 kilometers to Montevideo, and we’re going to get there in one big push. This requires crossing South America to the Atlantic coast and covering an unimaginable distance north.
Watch now:
Seriously, you think you know how big South America is until you have to drive up it. There were days we would drive for hours and arrive at camp exhausted. Then we looked at a map and it appeared that we’d hardly moved.
We saw unique wildlife along the roadways, including South America’s flightless bird. We also toured what must be one of the coolest dinosaur museums in the world. But mostly, we just drove.
Meanwhile, with the Ushuaia milestone behind us and the end of South America quickly approaching, we turned our attention to the next continent. We thought we were getting to Montevideo, putting the Jeep in a container for Africa, and continuing our drive around the world on another continent. But the reality was more complicated. In this video, we talk about our conflict and the options in front of us.
What’s new with Hourless Life?
Where this video leaves off, we are mere days away from arriving in Montevideo and leaving Dauntless (our Jeep Gladiator) in a storage facility. We’ll have that video to you soon.
In real time, we left Mexico on September 1 and flew into the United States. Since then, we’ve covered more than 8,000 miles! So if you thought we were taking a break because we haven’t been posting on YouTube, then think again. 😂 It has been a wild few months, filled with memory-making with loved ones, countless mechanical problems with our Jeep Wrangler, beautiful campsites and nature encounters, and tons of planning for Africa.
All that to come. If you want to learn more, then check out these two recent interviews:
- “Love. Explore. Study. Share.” – in-depth article on the Alu-Cab blog
- “From North America to the Bottom of the World with Hourless Life” – Overland Journal Podcast episode
Both of these features are important because they include reflections we haven’t shared anywhere else yet. I hope you’ll check them out.
Always so much more to share! If you have any questions at all, then don’t hesitate to leave them in a comment here on our blog or on YouTube.
