With Overland Expo West behind us, we launched into family and friend time for the next couple of weeks. It’s a joy to share this intimate part of our lives with you–showing you who we are when we’re most comfortable with the people we love most in this world.
Watch now:
Having flown from Phoenix to Corpus Christi, we soak up a few days with my (Brittany’s) parents and a surprise visitor. With the temperature pushing triple digits and nearly unbearable humidity (welcome to Corpus Christi), we spent a lot of time poolside. The pool is at the house we moved into when I was eight years old, and my parents are about to sell it. So it’s the end of a chapter for my family–time to cherish and reflect on what I consider a charmed childhood.
All too soon, it’s back to Phoenix and our Jeep Wrangler, Guardian. We reunite with our friends, the Hart family. Camping off-grid for nearly a week in Prescott National Forest, we see an unidentified object in the sky. This is a UFO by definition and we actually caught it on video.
Following our exploits in Prescott, we point west to California. In our next video, we’ll introduce you to our four adult kids (and two grandsons) and share our time with them.
What’s new with Hourless Life?
Since our last blog entry, we committed to another event that’s taking place this coming weekend. It’s the 2nd annual Juniper Jamboree, put on by Juniper Overland in Denver. Unfortunately, this small event is sold out. But if you happened to snag a ticket, let us know in a comment. We are excited to attend because Juniper built out the Gladiator we’re driving around the world. They did outstanding work and are just great people. So we’re excited to meet their larger community and share our travels.
Other than that, it’s getting to the part of our U.S. visit when we’re kind of wiped. We pour everything into our time with family and friends, which is precious time we don’t usually get. But the intense social time does deplete us eventually.
We are also facing the countdown to our flight back to Argentina. We are trying to corral things like parts, clothing items, and replacement debit cards that are set to expire before we come back to the U.S. We’re also trying to knock out action items that require phone calls, like setting up landlord insurance for Eric’s mom’s house that we just inherited. It is a lot to juggle in a short period of time.
We leave just over three weeks from today.
Thanks for being part of our drive around the world.
