Captain’s Remarks
20:56 – We made it safely to Arlington, TX. The Navigator and I switched out at the helm of Meriwether throughout the drive. We made the 382 mile journey in about 8 hours.
We crossed into Texas at 10:35 hrs. There is a feeling of comfort and security in this State that is evident the minute you cross the border. I honked both air horns in a loud and prolonged manner when crossing the State line.
Upon arrival at Treetops Carefree RV Resort (you can read our review of Treetops Carefree RV Resort here), we quickly got hooked up and then made our way back out the door to change our existing phone plan with AT&T. We had been grandfathered into the Unlimited Plan of years ago, but AT&T began throttling the data at 3GB, and we were paying way too much.
Today we switched to the AT&T “Next” 18 Month Plan. This plan has 10GB of un-throttled data that is shared between the two phones. We also each switched out to the iPhone 5S. Brittany got the gold with 32 GB of storage while I got the silver with 64 GB of storage. We are paying less than we were paying before and we both have new phones, not too bad a deal.
After getting the phones, we enjoyed a nice dinner together at a Mongolian Grill. Then it was back to Meriwether to get settled in for the night.
I’m still concerned about the weather front moving in. Meteorologists are stating that everything from thunder storms, to hail to tornadoes could be headed our way. We have found a spot where we will go in case of a tornado, but we’re hopeful that all will pass by. If we make it to tomorrow (Sunday) night, we should be fine as the front will have moved past us.
Our 1st Mate Trogdor ate three superworms yesterday and had another bowel movement today. This is good, it is a sign of healthy activity for him. Dragons are so hard to read sometimes. But he is active and acting normal, so we’re hopeful that all is getting better with him.
Our current location is fantastic when it comes to things in the area. Pretty much everything you could want is within a short walk or drive.
I’m exhausted, so I’ll keep this short. All the hatches are battened down. We’re ready for the night. ~ E
Navigator’s Addendum
After waking up at 5:45 AM, we drove almost two times farther today than we normally would. But I’m so thankful and happy to be back in the best state in the Union, and it feels good to have new phones – something we’ve been meaning to tend to for a while.
This weekend, hoping to wash the exterior windows and the front of Meriwether, and maybe clean my vacuum cleaner filter (I have the best vacuum – it deserves a blog post all its own!).
