Special Orders: Brittany’s Birthday!!!
Captain’s Remarks
14:01 – Today is Navigator, and more importantly my best friend and wife’s, birthday! Happy birthday sweet love!
Want to hear something completely crazy and unbelievable? Brittany and I are really as joyful as we seem. Believe it or not, we’ve never fought. Yes, we’ve been at odds, or frustrated or upset, but we’ve never fought.
About anything.
At all.
We’ll be married 3 years this July 29th.
14:05 – The plan yesterday was to go to this “turtle” place tonight for dinner in celebration of Brit’s birthday. However this afternoon Brittany gasped audibly when she heard that Ingrid Michaelson was doing a concert in Austin on May 14th. So with the quickness of a cheetah (ok maybe it was more of an attempted quickness) I leapt read: rose to my feet and grabbed my wallet, securing tickets for the show.

It had been a pretty miserable day up until this point. Perhaps the worst birthday ever. I felt like I had a big hashtag #fail hovering over me. There really isn’t much to do in Brownwood, TX. I couldn’t find her tea kettle that she’s been pining for, I broke some glass vase thing that used to hold our kitchen utensils, and my vaporizer was on the fritz so I was grumpy. All in all not a great way to start the birthday.
But that all changed with the big news about the concert. (Thank God for Ingrid Michaelson saving the day!) You should have seen the smile on Brittany’s face. Then of course we had the obligatory one hour of listening to Ingrid music online. Brittany was smiling and singing along and that just made me so happy.
Funny thing was that even before I got the tickets, Brittany had decided she didn’t want to go to the turtle place because it was too expensive. Just after I bought the tickets (which weren’t cheap), Brittany asked if I would be upset if she asked me to call and cancel the dinner reservations I had made.
If I hadn’t of gotten the tickets, I would have been a little frustrated because it was all I had going on for her birthday, but in light of the tickets it seemed ok to cancel. Taco Bell here we come.
14:13 – You know, we’re not wealthy. Financially that is. We’re very rich though. There is a difference. So birthday dinner might actually be at Taco Bell.
In other news, I had suggested to Brittany that we go to Dairy Queen, Sonic, and TCBY and get some small treat from each of them tonight. Brittany just giggled. She’s really my favorite person in the whole world.
Remarks – I’m gonna keep this short because I want to get out and enjoy B’s day. So I’ll just say it as simply as possible. Brittany is amazing, and I’m the luckiest and most blessed husband in the world. ~ E
Navigator’s Addendum
14:31 – Overheard: “That’s all my Captain’s Log is anymore. A love letter.”
That’s the way I like it. -B
