Captain’s Remarks

15:17 – The count is now 2 armadillo, 5 jackrabbits, 6 deer and a lost looking pelican.

15:18 – Had three client/business meetings in the past two days. Picked up another social media client that we’ll start work with in a couple of weeks. Really looking forward to working with them. They have a solid operation and I’ve been a fan of theirs since I found out about them.

15:19 – It’s like we’re a magnet for people wanting to work with us. And it’s all word of mouth, we don’t advertise or promote. We’re very thankful for the demand, and though we’d love to help everyone out we just can’t do it without sacrificing our level of service to our existing clients.

A magnet drawing people in
Gotta stop taking on new clients for now. Thanks so much to all of our existing ones!

So, no new clients for awhile, and the waiting list will continue to have additions. We’ve truly capped at our bandwidth with this last client we picked up yesterday.

15:21 – In RV news, we had a tornado watch a couple of nights ago. Our friend Austin N., the Park Host stopped by and knocked on our door informing us that if the weather got really bad to head to the showers as the building is made of cinder block. The thought of jumping in the shower with Brittany is always a fun one.. the thought of a community shower with all of our neighbors was a bit awkward. I mean what do you just walk in and say, “Hey we’re here for the tornado, hope you don’t mind us joining you.” All kidding aside, it’s spooky to think that a tornado might rip through our location. But thankfully the storm dissipated and we had no issues. Also, no community shower or awkward park moments.

15:24 – Spent some time talking with a great couple, Greg and Lindsey E of Morgantown, WV on the phone today. They are looking to potentially get into the Social Media Management sphere and just wanted to bounce some questions off me. I’m happy to help. They were fun to talk with and had gathered up some solid questions.

Greg and Lindsey E. Future full-timers.

They do graphic design work and they also are getting ready to hit the road in their Class C RV. What is really cool is that they got the rig in exchange for a grill and a little bit of cash. It’s their story, so I won’t steal their thunder, but when they do blog about it make sure you check them out. I like them already and look forward to meeting them out on the road sometime.

15:28 – Tonight I’ll be heading out to a friend’s house here in Austin. His name is Sean, but everyone calls him Peppy. He is a WYSIWYG kind of guy and I love him for it. Straight up down to earth, and a good friend.

Peppy in Austin
My friend Peppy ! One of the coolest cats around.

I’d asked him if he could hang onto something for me until December at his stick and brick home, and he said he’d be happy to. So I’m headed over there to hug his neck, drop off my stuff and check out his garden that he’s been working on.

15:30 – I’m pretty frustrated with this weight/workout thing. I’ve been walking a ton! Maybe 15 miles in the past 4 days or so, eating right and at a decent but safe calorie deficit and I’ve been generally eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water. Regardless my weight hasn’t budged. No idea why. With my legs aching the way they are, I sometimes wonder why I bother.

Remarks – I’m ready to get on the road. I want to explore again and I’m insatiable. I’ve heard that the day we arrive in Galveston there is a world class sandcastle competition taking place. I hope we get there early enough to go and check it out. After that we head to the Big Easy, another RV friend told us about a peanut butter bacon burger there that was supposed to be phenomenal. I’ll tell you that before I get to New Orleans I’d better drop some weight or I’m gonna be one sad little guy with my nose pressed against the glass munching on celery. ~ E

Navigator’s Addendum

16:20 – I don’t want to leave Austin because it’s my favorite city in the world. Except maybe Rome. But I can’t keep up this pace. I’m ready for things to normalize and for me to retain my sanity.

We’ve been here at McKinney for two full days now, and I haven’t done any exploring whatsoever. I’m hoping to change that today. -B
