Caspian just published his first book! Technically it’s an ebook called Henry and the Hydra. He’s been working on it since the beginning of the year, complete with original illustrations. What is Henry and the Hydra about?

According to eight-year-old Caspian:

This is a book about a kid who was stranded on an island as a kid, and the adventures he went on with his ‘little friend.’

If mom is allowed to add on, I’ll say this six-chapter story is full of humor, suspense, and surprise. I expect it will bring you at least one smile–maybe even a chuckle.

How long is the ebook?

Caspian’s first literary effort is not long. He didn’t set out to write a book to share with others. This effort was originally just a way to practice his handwriting, since he didn’t like the writing workbook he was using.

But the story grew until it was six chapters long. It filled quite a bit of his notebook. Once the book was finished, Caspian created illustrations for each chapter. Then we typed the story onto the illustration pages.

The chapters are only one page each, so six pages total. We know this is short for a book, but now Caspian wants Henry and the Hydra to become a book series! He intends for the second book in the series to be longer. It’s exciting to see him growing already.

Though Henry and the Hydra just published, Caspian plans to start writing the next book right away.

I just read Caspian’s Henry and the Hydra and it is a great read! I love the part when they encounter the [redacted] and ride on a [redacted]. And 23 minutes of Henry running from [redacted] sounds like an awfully long time. I was on the edge of my seat. I’m going to have my youngest daughter Terra who’s learning to read, read it herself (she’s 5). I can’t wait for the sequel to Henry’s adventures. Overall 5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
