Full-time Overlanding Challenges

Challenges of Full-time Overlanding (Video)

Our full-time overlanding journey continues. We drove across the border into Argentina! To get there, we had to submit an Andes mountain pass above 10,000 feet in elevation.

In our latest video, we show the border crossing from Chile to Argentina. Then, from our campground outside the city of Mendoza, we share our first impressions of Argentina from a full-time overlanding perspective, touching on topics like the difficult economic situation, currency, and challenging cultural differences.

Watch now:

During this same time, we prepared to return to the U.S. for a two-month visit. We’ll be presenting at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff from May 17-19, 2024.

So in our video, we also chat about the process of leaving our Jeep home on another continent and finding our way back. Spoiler: it takes some logistical gymnastics. And we made unique mistakes this time that made it harder on ourselves–we share about those, as well.

This is a different style of video for us, but it doesn’t represent a permanent change. We just felt it was appropriate to take time to reflect on where we’ve been, where we’ve arrived at, and where we’re going next. In our normal travelogue videos, there isn’t always “room” for some of the deeper, big-picture thoughts going on behind the scenes. So we’re sharing some of those in this video.

What’s new with Hourless Life?

The events in this video are only about a week old! So when you watch, it’s essentially a real-time update from us.

In our next video, we’ll share our short flight from Mendoza to Santiago on a Chilean airline called Sky Airline. We spend three nights in the center of Santiago, the capital city of Chile. Then it’s time to fly to the other side of the world! Thanks to years of saving up our credit card points, luxury is involved.

Can’t wait to show it all to you next time. Between now and then, feel free to send questions our way. And to those who are coming to Overland Expo West next week, we look forward to seeing you.
