My favorite days are often the ones that surprise me most. But some surprises aren’t as good as others. In our latest video, we travelogue our drive from Medellín to Guatapé, then back through Medellín to camp south of the city. Along the way, we face a road closure that forces us into a challenging detour. Behind schedule, we head into the congested streets of Medellin, where several people call out that something is wrong with our tire. After visiting two mechanic shops, we’re told the men were working together in a coordinated attempt to carjack our Jeep.
Watch the video now:
It was an unexpectedly long and nerve-wracking day. But in the end, we were just grateful we still had our home, despite the fact we’d been completely oblivious to what was happening around us.
What’s next?
These events took place on March 8, 2023. This year, we are focusing more on telling the ongoing narrative of our drive around the world. Since March 8, we’ve had some wonderful (and challenging) adventures and we look forward to showing you in our upcoming videos.
We will be crossing into Ecuador within the next week. From Quito, we fly to Denver to spend two months in the United States. Our priority is visiting family, so we’ll be bouncing between Colorado, Washington, and California doing that. But the timing works out for us to present at Overland Expo West! We would love to see you in Flagstaff from May 19-21. You can buy tickets here.
Soon we’ll announce the details of our presentations, roundtables, and other events at Overland Expo. Stay tuned!
