This was by far the hardest video edit we’ve ever done. Going over this difficult time again brought back a flood of emotion.
In this video, we leave Riobamba and drive south to Cuenca, Ecuador, as we continue our overlanding journey around the world. Along the way, we have to detour off the Pan-American Highway because of a massive landslide that took out a huge section of the world’s longest motorable road.
Once in Cuenca, we receive devastating news that shakes Eric to his core and changes his life forever. We promised to be transparent and share this journey with you just the way it is. So here you have it. Raw.
Watch now:
In our next video, we’ll give you a glimpse into life in Cuenca, Ecuador. This is a special city and we ended up parked there for a full month.
What’s new?
We are two-thirds through our vacation time in Orlando. This past week, our eldest son has been visiting us! Between his military service abroad and our life abroad, we hadn’t seen each other in two years. It has been a sweet time having our eldest and youngest together, catching up and even playing at Disney World as a family.
Almost 20 years ago, Eric’s mom gave him a big gift. Because he had four kiddos, too many to fit in one hotel room, she bought him a timeshare in the Orlando area. She wanted it to bless the family over time–Eric and all her grandchildren. We’ve held onto the property all these years.
In the wake of her loss, it’s more special than ever to be back here. We’re remembering and appreciating her, watching the joy her gift continues to give to her grandchildren who she loved more than anything. We miss you, Lety.
Thank YOU for being part of our journey.
