Our best travel adventures happen when we leave ourselves open to new friendships and opportunities, willing to be flexible and go outside our comfort zones. Even little Caspian learned that lesson in this week’s video, when he conquered his fear to try an extreme activity for the first time. We invite you to tag along as we visit one of the best outdoor adventure parks in Mexico, Campamento Tlatchli.
Located only 40 minutes from the capital city of San Luis Potosí, Campamento Tlatchli has been in operation for the past 25 years. It offers extreme outdoor activities like rappelling and ziplining, as well as beautiful hiking opportunities within one of Mexico’s 67 national parks.
Camping for Overlanders
The owners also invite overlanders to use their property for overnight camping! You must make your reservation at least 48 hours in advance, which you can do through Facebook or Whatsapp (+52 444 840 8349).
You can inquire about the current nightly rate when you make your reservation.
Mission You’ll Want to Support
But I haven’t mentioned the most important thing you need to know about Campamento Tlatchli. This outdoor adventure park has an incredible mission of social inclusion. All activities are designed for disabled and able-bodied individuals to participate side-by-side. No one is sequestered or disqualified. Instead, all staff members and volunteers receive special training to include everybody.
The largest group Campamento Tlatchli ever hosted was made up of 160 people. They gathered from areas across Mexico, and each one of them was blind. Special guide lines were installed to give camp participants as much independence as possible. And everyone was invited to participate in the camp’s many activities, from rappelling to ziplining.
We are so excited to put a spotlight on this beautiful, important location hidden in the peaceful mountains outside San Luis Potosí. We hope your road leads you there.
