Overlanding Jeep Gladiator Walk-around Tour

Ultimate Overlanding Jeep Gladiator Walk-around Tour (Video)

Who wants to see a complete walk-around tour of the overlanding Jeep Gladiator we’re driving around the world?! From the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper habitat to our hidden extra fuel tank, from collapsible dishes and pots (that fit in one hanging bag) to our suspension system, get ready to see everything!

Seven years of full-time vehicle travel experience went into this build. We labored over every decision, knowing Dauntless (that’s the name of our Jeep Gladiator) would be home for 10-15 years across all six habitable continents, where finding or getting replacements shipped would be next to impossible. We must be able to rely on our vehicle.

As you watch this tour, understand nothing was just slapped on and casually reviewed. Rather, every piece of gear was chosen carefully and has been field-tested for a full year outside the United States, over harsh road conditions and every adverse weather condition you can imagine (including a tornado and hurricane).

Watch the ultimate overlanding Jeep Gladiator walk-around tour now:

Today is the one-year anniversary of when we left the United States and began our global journey! We filmed this video tour in Panamá, after driving through interior Mexico for six months, followed by all seven countries in Central America. We are closing the North American chapter of our trip and preparing to put Dauntless in a container on November 5, which will be sent by cargo ship to South America!

2025 Update

It’s been more than two-and-a-half years since our walk-around Jeep tour and we’ve finished our drive through South America! Rewatching this video, it’s amazing how little we’ve changed in all that time. This would not be the case if we were living in the United States, where there’s always “something more/better/newer” to attach to one’s vehicle. But out here, there’s no parts availability–at least not higher quality than what we already have. So there’s no real reason or opportunity to make changes.

Having said that, there’s a small list of things that are different now:

  1. Our two rooftop solar panels stopped working in Ecuador. We actually went seven months without solar panels. 😶 Finally, in late January 2024, our friends at REDARC Electronics sent two 120W monocrystalline solar panels to mount atop our Alu-Cab Canopy Camper. These panels are incredible and produce so much power. If you’re interested, we made a solar panel install video with more info.
  2. The Viper alarm system stopped working. Now we just have the stock Jeep Gladiator alarm.
  3. Of the six zipper pockets that hang on the Alu-Cab water tank inside our habitat, the bottom three all hold Caspian’s clothes now. He’s much bigger now and so are his clothes!

And as a sidenote, Blue Ridge Overland Gear now makes an attic specifically for the Jeep Gladiator. We haven’t switched to it yet, but we’d like to. You can see it here.
