After working our way south through Mexico and Central America for 13 months, we stuck our Jeep Gladiator into a shipping container and began our adventure across a new continent. We spent more than two years overlanding through South America, reaching both the southern terminus of the Pan-American Highway and the southernmost city on the globe, Ushuaia.
These are the countries we visited and how long we stayed in each one:
- Colombia (5 months)
- Ecuador, including the Galapagos Islands (3 months)
- Peru (4 months)
- Chile (2 months)
- Argentina (5 months)
- Brazil (2 months)
- Uruguay (1 week)
Our South American travels began in November 2022 and ended March 2025 when we put our Jeep into storage near Montevideo, Uruguay, awaiting our next continent…Africa.
