This is the last hurrah. The final stretch of our two-month visit back to the United States. Somehow, we find ourselves with a few days of free time! We use it to launch an unofficial “Highland Family Vacation,” wandering around charming Colorado towns and campsites doing some Rocky Mountains overlanding.
If you aren’t familiar with this region, then you’ll want to see this–maybe add it to your bucket list! Leaving Leadville, we check out Buena Vista, St. Elmo ghost town, Salida, Breckenridge, and Frisco. This is an incredibly beautiful part of the country. As we go, we stay in all kinds of camping locations, from national forests to Bureau of Land Management areas.
Watch now:
We make it back to my brother’s house in Denver for his house-warming party (he and his wife are superb hosts). Then it’s back to the mountains for one more camping trip, this time with long-time patron supporters who we’ve never met in person before.

In our next video, we navigate the heavy logistics required to move our family back to another continent–literally the other side of the world. Then we take a deep breath and launch into a series of three flights for a total travel time of more than 24 hours. Argentina, here we come.
What’s new with Hourless Life?
In real-time, we are still in our Airbnb in Mendoza, Argentina. I am progressing in my surgery recovery. Today was actually the first time I went out without Eric since July 18. I walked Caspian to breakfast, then pushed myself (a little too hard) to get to the grocery store. But there’s a balance between letting myself heal and getting myself back into shape. Only two weeks before we get back on the road!
Thank you for joining us on this journey–all its shapes and shades.
