Overlanding is vehicle-based, self-reliant, long-distance travel where the journey is more important than the destination. We discovered overlanding in 2018, after we had already been traveling full-time for four years.
We weren’t sure if we were cut out for the level of intentional self-deprivation that overlanding requires–especially because we were traveling with a one-year-old at the time! But our shakedown trips into Mexico had us hooked, and we ended up doing 4,000 miles through the interior and the full Baja Peninsula.
In 2018, we started preparing to overland around the world. As of October 2021, we launched our 10- to 15-year journey across all six habitable continents.
We have three subcategories you may be interested in:
- North America documents our overlanding adventures on the North American continent, including our travels through interior Mexico, the Baja Peninsula, and all seven countries in Central America.
- Gear and Build is full of articles about our personal overlanding builds, as well as our recommendations for you, from experience. By sharing our mistakes, we hope to save you time, money, and sweat equity. No need to reinvent the wheel!
- Resources is pretty self-explanatory, full of overlanding suggestions and strategies to help you on your way.
