RV travel was our introduction to life on the road. When we began traveling full-time in February 2014, it was in a 2004 Tiffin Phaeton. That big, 40-foot diesel rig took us all over the country for nearly five years.
After a few months living out of our Jeep Wrangler and driving 2,000 miles through interior Mexico, we came back to the United States in March 2019 and purchased a 25-foot Winnebago View.
With our View, which was well-equipped for dry camping, we enjoyed overnighting at Harvest Hosts locations, visiting national parks way off the grid, and being more nimble than we ever could in our larger RV.
It was a wonderful RV life. Though we transitioned to global overlanding in early 2021, we look back on our RV adventures fondly and hope others can learn from our experience.
We have hundreds of articles related to RV travel, so we hope you’ll take the time to scan through them using the orange numbers at the bottom of this page.
Our most popular destination article is an exhaustive guide to the Natchez Trace Parkway, which begins in southern Mississippi and ends just outside Nashville.
If you’re looking for tips related to RV travel, our most-read pieces are:
- how I “reupholstered” our dinette cushions in an unexpected way
- getting rid of mold
- properly maintaining your RV’s washer/dryer combo
- getting rid of mice in your RV
Yes, these are (some of) the lovely adventures you have to look forward to!
Our son Caspian was born into a life of full-time RV travel. We have a subcategory called RV Life With Kids where you can learn more about RVing with children.
There’s one more article we must mention: We Survived Our First Full Week of Dry Camping (And You Will, Too). We didn’t know it when we wrote this article in 2015, but dry camping in an RV changed our lives! The experience of living off-grid, which we eventually mastered, prepared us to drive around the world.
