Our full-time overlanding life is full of funny coincidences. In our last video, we told you we stumbled on the third-largest Oktoberfest in the world. In this episode, our path took us to the largest theme park in Latin America, Beto Carrero World! We also explored the Bavarian-town of Gramado, which reminded us a little of Breckenridge and Leavenworth. Then there was Florianópolis, a big island with a lot of variety, and Porto Alegre, where we tackled Jeep issues. In the end, we drive all the way across southern Brazil in order to return to Argentina.
Watch now:
We spent less than two months in Brazil, but we fell completely in love with it. What a special country! We’ve only seen a fraction, since the country is larger than the continental United States. But our small loop of the southern end showed us the largest waterfalls in the world, beautiful beaches, the world’s third-largest Oktoberfest, a new language, friendly people, and much more.
Overlanding through Brazil felt easy and enjoyable, with lots of infrastructure, new friends to make, and fun cultural experiences. Thank you to everyone we met in Brazil for making our time in your country so memorable. We can’t wait to return.
What’s new for Hourless Life?
We are managing to stay about two months behind on YouTube by publishing longer videos. Two months doesn’t sound like a lot, unless you know we live a normal lifetime in that time. 😂
We’ve had a wonderful start to 2025. We’ve continued south through Chile, spending time camping lakeside in the Siete Lagos (seven lakes) district. Then we took a ferry to Chiloé Island, which is famous among overlanders for holding the southern terminus of the Pan-American Highway. Then we started one of our biggest adventures yet, the Carretera Austral!
The 1,240-kilometer Carretera Austral is famous for its national park access and overall natural beauty, opportunities for outdoor adventure, and remoteness. This is a special region.
Unfortunately, we encountered major challenges as soon as we rolled off our six-hour ferry journey at 3 a.m. in the morning. You can read the whole story in our recent Patreon post, or stay tuned for the full story on YouTube!
Thank you for being part of our journey.
